College Sport

The Northern Beaches Secondary College provides a range of opportunities for all students to develop their overall fitness, fundamental skills, officiating and coaching abilities. The College also caters for students who excel at sport and wish to showcase their talent on the broader stage.

Opportunities exist for students to select from a range of sporting activities in the wider community such as surfing, paddle boarding, yoga, ten pin bowing, tennis, futsal, golf and fitness training. The stage 4 program provides a focus on intensive swimming programs and lifesaving for all levels of ability. Campuses also utilise local and state sporting bodies to provide specialised programs during integrated sport.

Students are encouraged to represent their campus or the College on the school sports pathway through competing at Sydney North, NSWCHS and Australian All Schools competitions. Teams that specifically represent the College in the NSWCHS Knockout Competition and competitions organised by state and national sporting bodies currently include: Baseball, Basketball, Hockey, Rugby Codes, Snowsports, Softball and Surfing.

NBSC students also participate in the NSW Premier’s Sporting Challenge (PSC). The PSC Sport Leadership program provides opportunities for students to learn leadership skills and lead 250 local primary students through a variety of sports with the support of the development officers of local, state and national organisations. Staff are also encouraged to participate in the PSC Staff challenge over a 10 week period to support them in maintaining and role modelling an active lifestyle.
